Help! A bear in my tent!
HELP! There’s a sleeping bear in your tent! Stay calm! Luckily, this campsite has instructions for situations like this. But are they actually helpful? Do you dare to be stubborn enough to figure it out on your own? Can you lure the bear out of the tent before it drifts into a deep winter sleep?
For this project—created after winning the Open Call by Cinekid x Amarte Fonds— Leon van Oldenborgh and I developed a playful and quirky interactive installation for children. The premise? An unexpected challenge: there’s a bear in the tent, and it’s up to the children to get it out!
But there’s a twist: around the tent, signs display instructions that should not be followed. It takes a good dose of stubbornness and creativity to lure the bear out. By flipping traditional rules on their head, the installation encourages children to think outside the box and trust their own intuition.
This installation combines humor, tension, and play to actively engage and challenge young visitors. It is an ode to individuality and a stimulating experiment in breaking expectations.
