Traces explores how both people and nature leave imprints in time and space. Using reaction–diffusion systems — natural processes that generate ever-evolving patterns — the work visualises the fragile yet resilient traces of migration and community. The silhouettes of Råslätt’s residents, filmed in collaboration with the local community, become carriers of patterns that grow, fade, and ripple outward.
These evolving structures serve as metaphors for human presence and movement. Just as chemical and biological systems spread, intertwine, and dissolve, communities also expand, thin out, and transform. Small sounds, gestures, and movements activate the patterns, making them feel alive — as if the environment itself listens and responds.
